What DAX exosome therapy is

Exosomes are nanoscale vesicles that cells use to signal one another, carrying growth factors, peptides and messenger molecules. A DAX exosome protocol uses a concentrated, medical-grade exosome preparation delivered into the skin immediately after a micro-channelling treatment. The idea is to give recovering skin a strong “repair” signal — encouraging fibroblasts to produce collagen, calming inflammation, and speeding the return to a healthy barrier.

Delivery is the whole point

Exosome molecules are too large to cross intact skin. They only reach the living dermis through the temporary channels created by microneedling, RF microneedling or a fractional laser — which is why the therapy is always paired with one of those.

How a session is delivered

  1. Cleanse & numb

The skin is cleansed and a topical anaesthetic applied for 20–30 minutes.

  2. Create micro-channels

Microneedling or RF microneedling opens thousands of temporary channels across the treatment area.

  3. Apply the exosome preparation

The DAX preparation is spread over the skin and worked in, with a further layer often left on as a mask.

  4. Soothe & protect

A calming serum and SPF finish the session. You leave with 48-hour aftercare instructions.

24–48 hours typical social downtime — sunburn-like redness on day one, settling to pinkness and light dryness.

What it realistically improves

Where DAX exosome therapy helps — and where it doesn’t
ConcernRealistic benefit
Dullness, uneven textureGood — smoother, more radiant skin over a course
Dehydration, weakened barrierGood — improved hydration and resilience
Redness, post-procedure inflammationGood — calmer skin, faster recovery after microneedling/laser
Fine lines, early crepinessModest — some softening as skin quality improves
Post-acne marks, mild pigmentationModest — best alongside pigment-focused care
Laxity, volume loss, deep wrinklesMinimal — needs energy devices, resurfacing or injectables
Active acne or rosacea flareNot a treatment — settle first

The evidence and the rules

Laboratory and animal studies show exosomes can influence fibroblast activity, collagen production and inflammation. Human aesthetic data is still limited — mostly small studies and split-face comparisons, often showing better recovery and skin-quality scores when exosomes are added to microneedling or laser. Encouraging, but not the same as large, long-term trials.

UK regulatory position

Exosome products are not licensed as injectable medicines in the UK, and injecting them is not an approved use. Responsible clinics apply them topically to freshly micro-channelled skin and are transparent about the product’s source, processing and storage. Be cautious of any clinic offering injected exosomes or making cure-all claims.

Illustrative share of the final visible improvement present at each point after a full course of three sessions.

The first days bring a temporary glow as the skin recovers. The meaningful change — texture, tone, resilience — builds over 6–12 weeks and is maintained with a session every 3–6 months, or by pairing exosome therapy with an ongoing microneedling schedule.

Downtime and aftercare

  1. Leave the skin bare on the first night; use only the products provided.
  2. No make-up for 24 hours, then mineral only.
  3. No exercise, saunas, steam or swimming for 48 hours.
  4. Pause retinoids, acids and scrubs for 3–5 days.
  5. Strict SPF 50 and no direct sun for a week.
  6. Expect mild dryness and flaking around days 2–4 — moisturise, don’t pick.

Frequently asked questions

How much does DAX exosome therapy cost in Knightsbridge?

A single session with microneedling is roughly £300–£650 in London, and a course of three is £850–£1,600. Added to RF microneedling or laser it’s typically £150–£350 on top of the base treatment.

What does exosome therapy actually do?

It aims to amplify the skin’s repair response after a micro-channelling treatment, improving texture, hydration, radiance and redness and speeding recovery. It doesn’t add volume, lift the face or remove deep wrinkles.

How many sessions do I need?

Three sessions two to four weeks apart is standard, with results building over 6–12 weeks. Maintenance is a session every three to six months, or pairing exosome therapy with an ongoing microneedling schedule.

Is it injected?

No. In the UK exosome products are not licensed as injectable medicines, so a responsible clinic applies them topically onto skin that has just been micro-channelled by microneedling or laser. Avoid any clinic offering injected exosomes.

Is there strong evidence it works?

The evidence is early — laboratory work and small clinical studies show improved skin-quality scores and faster recovery when exosomes are combined with microneedling or laser, but there are no large long-term trials yet. It’s best described as promising skin-quality support.

How is it different from polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are injected DNA fragments with a better-established role in skin repair, hydration and elasticity, including the under-eye area. Exosome therapy is applied topically after micro-channelling and leans toward radiance, calming and recovery. They can be used in the same overall plan.

How is it different from PRP?

PRP concentrates growth factors from your own blood; exosome preparations deliver an external signalling package. Both target skin quality via microneedling. PRP has a longer track record; exosome therapy is newer and needs no blood draw.

What’s the downtime?

Usually 24–48 hours — sunburn-like redness on day one, then pinkness and mild dryness or flaking around days two to four. Make-up after 24 hours, no exercise or heat for 48 hours, strict SPF for a week.

Can I have it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. Like most micro-channelling and injectable aesthetic treatments, it isn’t offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to limited safety data.

Will one session make a difference?

You’ll usually see a short-lived glow, but the lasting texture and tone benefits come from completing a course and protecting the skin from sun afterwards.
